Sahags Basturma | Armenian | Hollywood/Little Armenia | <$10 | Served out of a great little Armenian deli, these pressed sandwiches are a dang delight. The titular basturma is a spiced cured beef that is earthy, has a nice salt to it, and pairs great with their crusty bread. | 5183 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027 |
Little Sister | Vietnamese | Multiple Locations | $ 16+ | The #sgv special Banh Mi is decadent and delicious. At $25, this is one of the most expensive sandwiches on this list, and is absolutely the price that they should be. | Downtown: 523 W 7th St, Los Angeles, CA 90017
El Segundo: 830 Pacific Coast Hwy #100, El Segundo, CA 90245 Redondo Beach: 247 Avenida Del Norte, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 |
The Village Mart & Deli | American | El Sereno | $10-$15 | A lot of solid sandwiches to choose from here. The Italian ($13.75) is a wonderfully simple cold cut sandwich on a pillowy roll. The Hot Pastrami ($13.95) and Cubano are both picture perfect versions of those classics. | 2200 N Soto St, Los Angeles, CA 90032 |
La Española Meats, Inc. | Spanish | Harbor City | <$10 | Bocadillo de la Casa ($8.50). Serrano ham, sausage of the day, manchego cheese, piquillo peppers, olive oil, all toasted on skinny Spanish bread. A perfect sandwich. Located in a nondescript warehouse district in the South Bay, La Española Meats is a proper food import operation for Los Angeles Spainards with a small deli and outdoor seating area attached. While I browsed the deli, the place was filled with just the best fucking smells, only for me to realize that was my sandwich being toasted. What better place to make one of the best sandwiches than the meats supplier? Also, La Española is famous amongst my Spanish friends for their paella, only available on Saturdays and liable to sell out. Shout out to my main man Jonathan Roig for taking me here. | 25020 Doble Ave, Harbor City, CA 90710 |
Yo-Way | American | Gardena | $10-$15 | 17901 Vermont Ave, Gardena, CA 90248

Bodega Park | New American | Silver Lake | $ 16+ | Spicy Fried Chicken Cesar Sandwich ($19). I'm such a sucker for cesar salad (I highly recommend making it from scratch at home with the original Tijuana recipe) and I've never seen it in sandwich form, so I couldn't resist. It's great! The fried chicken does a great job at standing in for crunchy croutons. | 2852 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026 |
Corner Market | Subs | Glendale | $10-$15 | A great little neighborhood market selling classic subs on bread lightly toasted to perfection. | 471 W Lexington dr. Glendale, CA 91203 |
Ghost Sando | Subs | Multiple Locations | $ 16+ | These subs are big, with the sizes starting at large. For me, perfect for sharing or saving some for later. The Uncle Nikki ($16) is a gooood Italian sub, with a great stack of cold cuts and provolone topped with a classic mix of chopped veggies. All perfectly lubed up with the exact Italian dressing you want. All the subs are served on the best Dutch Crunch bread I've had in LA (I'm always open to suggestions). The Harvest ($14) is an exceptionally good veggie sandwich with sundried tomato sauce and avocados (a little too heavy on the sprouts, imo). |
Melrose: 7801 Melrose Ave, L.A., CA 90046 Grand Central Market: 317 S Broadway, L.A., CA 90013 Toluca: 173 N Maple St., Burbank, CA 91505 |

All'Antico Vinaio | Authentic Italian | Multiple Locations | $ 16+ | La Fabuloso ($20), quality ingredients that don't overpowering each other. The pecorino cheese cream and the artichoke cream are especially great. Nice and nutty, slightly funky, earthy, plays well with the Tuscan salami. Too expensive for me to eat again all that often, but great for a picnic or the beach. | Koreatown: 3925 W 6th St, 90020
Venice: 1121 Abbot Kinney Blvd, 90291 |

Attari Sandwich Shop | Iranian | Westwood | $10-$15 | Kotlet-Chicken, Kuku Sabzi (vegetarian), (both $13.99): Last time I went, an incredibly nice old fella recommended the Osh soup with bread. Also, I can't help but be charmed by their website. | 1388 Westwood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024 |

Busy Bee Market | Subs | San Pedro | $10-$15 | I've only been once and I got the turkey ($14.25) it's simply softness as a sandwich, what a delight, lives up to the hype. Cemitas Poblanas Don Adrian | Mexican/Cemitas | Van Nuys | $10-$15 | Lomo Adobado ($12): Cemitas have quickly become my favorite style of torta. There's so much flavor in this sandwich, and it's a thick boi). Flavor that, to me, feels so unique to Mexican cuisine and that I don't often come across in the US. Don Adrian also has breakfast cemitas that I'm dying to try. | 6524 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys, CA 91401 |
Cole's | French Dip | Downtown | $ 16+ | French Dip ($19): I'm really not interested in the Cole's vs. Phillipe's debate, they are both great and not really comparable. Cole's is a great cocktail bar with a classic LA sandwich, I love how customizable the Dip is. And that hot mustard is no joke, intense and oh so good. | 118 E 6th St, Los Angeles, CA 90014 |
Chateau Marmont | Turkey Club | West Hollywood | $ 16+ | Turkey Club ($24): Look, this isn't a restaurant you can just go to whenever, this is famously an exclusive hotel, and I hear reservations at the restaurant are a whole thing. That said, I was incredibly surprised at how good this Turkey Club was, possibly one of the best I've ever had. The turkey was freshly grilled, and with a delicious aoili that made it all oh so perfectly moist. So if you just so happen to be at the Chateau, and are in the mood for a sandwich, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. | 8221 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046 |

Connal's | Subs/Grinders | Pasadena | <$10 | Turkey Breast ($5.39): This is a solid grinder that feels like it was designed by a New Jersey dad: simple, good ingredients that aren't too fancy, and maybe a little too big, but you can handle it. | 1505 E Washington Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91104 |
Continental Gourmet Sausage Co. | Classic Subs with great cheese | Hermosa Beach | $10-$15 | Black Forest Ham ($7): I'm always surprised that at how much food you get for $7 here, each sandwich comes with a side. Cultured Slice Sandwich Shop | New American | Hermosa Beach | $ 16+ | The Classic ($14): More European style, The Classic is French ham butter, and gruyere. A sandwich shop run by a cheese shop is definitely something I'd love to see more often. | 229 Pacific Coast Hwy, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 |

DeFranko's Submarines | Italian Subs | Van Nuys | <$10 | Italian Cold Cut ($8.75): Look, I don't get the point of sesame seed buns, I think some bakers feel naked without them. Delicias Bakery | Mexican Bakery | Highland Park | <$10 | Milanesa Torta ($8.75): Delicias was a go to spot for me when I lived in Highland Park, they have delicious tortas, vegan pan dulces, and make the cutest damn cakes. Delicious Food Corner | Hong Kong-style diner | San Gabriel Valley, multiple locations | <$10 | The Tuna Salad sandwich here is very tasty and has more complex flavors than the classic American tuna sandwich I'm used to. That said, Delicious Food Corner has so much more to offer than their sandwiches. They have the best congee I've ever had. The pineapple bun is a "must order" item. Emma's Snack Shop | American | Downtown Inglewood | <$10 | I looooooove Emma's. I wish that every neighborhood in LA had their very own simple corner snack shop run by someone half as sweet and kind as Emma. The food is exactly what I want out of a simple sandwich shop. I paid $8 for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on wheat, with a damn good cup of coffee. They also serve bagels, chili cheese Fritos, salads, candy and more. | 205 S Market St, Inglewood, CA 90301 |
El Cochinito | Cuban | Silver Lake | <$10 | PERMENANTLY CLOSED, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN :( Cuban Sandwich, add maduros ($10): For my money, this is the best Cuban restaurant in the world. Giamela's (Burbank) | Italian Deli | Burbank | <$10 | Pastrami (Burbank exclusive): The B-bank menu is much smaller than Atwater's, but maybe that's because half of the staff (there's two) is putting a lot of love into the pastrami process, and that's okay because their pastrami is amazing. Has been known to weigh you down for the rest of the day. | 216 Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502 |

A great combo!) and the Caprese, nothing too crazy, just Italians done well. The bread is nice and fluffy, with a slight crunch. | 5518 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230 |
Submarine King | Subs | Burbank | $10-$15 | Spring Turkey ($9.99, seasonal): Run by the nicest family in town. Their seasonal subs are usually amazing. A Burbank classic. | 261 W Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91502 |
Super Tortas | Mexican/Tortas | Sun Valley | <$10 | Milanesa ($7.99) | 7951 Vineland Ave, Sun Valley, CA 91352 |
Sweet Lily Bakery Cafe | French | Universal City | $ 16+ | Primarily a bakery, selling lots of sweets, The Parisien ($15) here is as good as it gets. | 3315 Cahuenga Blvd W, Los Angeles, CA 90068 |
Tallyrand | Diner | Burbank | $10-$15 | Hot Turkey Sandwich (14.95): "Huell Howser's Favorite!" This thing is fucking funny. It's a Thanksgiving Dinner sandwich: Oven-roasted turkey (white and dark meat) on nothing special white bread, comes with stuffing, and mashed potatoes. Then, all of it is covered in gravy, including the ENTIRE sandwich. It's ridiculous and I love it. To be honest, I don't eat this thing often, but I do go to Tallyrand all the time. All the diner staples they make are great, the cinnamon roll is enormous and the best I've ever had, and their muffins are amazing. | 1700 W Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91506 |
The Heights Deli | Italian Deli | Lincoln Heights | $10-$15 | Ave 26 ($12.75): All-around great, quality subs, with an amazing selection of beers and wines. | 2927 N Broadway, LA, CA 90031 2135 N San Fernando Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90065 |
The Sammiche Shoppe | American | Downtown Inglewood | <$10 | Lucy Mae Air Fried Chicken ($9.25): To me, a no-frills gold standard of American sandwiches. Their more simple fare reminds me of what my dad made me for school lunch growing up. | 222 E Regent St, Inglewood, CA 90301 |
Uncle Paulie's | Italian Deli | Multiple locations | $10-$15 | Artichoke Caprese (vegetarian), something I haven’t had on a sandwich before and I’m all about it. Lots of arugula that give a deliciously soft crunch. Bread has a nice and firm, yet flexible crust. | Downtown: 820 S. Spring Street
Los Angeles, Ca. 90014
Studio City: 3990 Vantage Avenue Studio City, Ca. 91604 3rd St./Beverly Grove: 8053 W. 3RD Street Los Angeles, CA. 90048 |

Vince's Market | Market Sandwich | Atwater Village | <$10 | Simple and cheap as hell, with most of their sandwiches under $5. | 3250 Silver Lake Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90039 |
Vinh Loi Tofu | Vietnamese | Reseda | $10-$15 | 18625 Sherman Way #101, Reseda, CA 91335
Wax Paper | New American | Frogtown | $10-$15 | Audie Cornish ($14.50): So many great flavors and textures going on with this sandwich. Gun to my head, I will literally never remember which NPR personality the sandwich I want to order is named after. | 2902 Knox Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90039 736 N Broadway Suite 106, Los Angeles, CA 90012 |
Wendy's Tortas | Mexican/Tortas | Lincoln Heights | <$10 | Pierna y Lomo ($7.99): The best torta I've ever had. More of a sit-down restaurant than other places on this list, with a menu full of great Mexican classics and fantastic staff. They also have buckets of beer and plenty of TVs playing local sports as well as Mexican soccer. | 2603 N Main St, LA, CA 90031 |
